Linda Bosserman, MD, FACP

Wilshire Oncology

Linda Bosserman, MD, FACP, received her medical degree, completed internship and residency in internal medicine and served on the faculty at Stanford University. This was followed by oncology fellowships and faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School, Dana-Faber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital. She returned home to southern California where she has been a community medical oncologist at Wilshire Oncology since 1990.

Women's cancer care, cancer prevention, clinical trials and quality cancer care delivery in community practice are Dr. Bosserman's primary areas of interest. While Medical Director of the Robert and Beverly Lewis Family Cancer Care Center in Pomona California, she pioneered an integrated psychosocial oncology program and established the Breast Health Center for diagnostic services. She also directed the Comprehensive Breast Health Task Force, a multidisciplinary community coalition to evaluate and promote high quality, coordinated breast health for the diverse and multicultural residents of the Inland and Pomona Valleys. She now serves as the medical director of Breast Health at San Antonio Community Hospital.

Dr. Bosserman has served on the Board of Directors and chaired the Breast Health Committee of the California division of the American Cancer Society. She served four years on the board of directors for the San Bernardino County California Medical Society and 6 years on the Public Issues Committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and is an ongoing member of ASCO’s Bisphosphonate Guideline committee. She was a founding board member of the Community Oncology Alliance where she lobbied for accessible, affordable quality cancer care and implemented the Quality, Safety and Pay for Performance (QSP) committee. She is also a co-editor of Community Oncology, which seeks to bring state of the art treatment and practice information to effectively help busy community oncologists. She is a founding board member, former Chief Quality Officer and Chief Medical Officer for Cancer Centers of Excellence. In 2010 Wilshire Oncology affiliated with US Oncology and McKesson, to join over 3,000 US oncologists working to deliver evidence based cancer care and better serve the growing California oncology community. Dr. Bosserman lectures and writes for lay and professional audiences with a focus on breast cancer, practice organization and electronic medical record use to facilitate quality care delivery in cancer practices. She has worked actively with COA, ACS, ASCO, CCE and now US Oncology to bring the voice of community oncology to elected representatives, the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services officials, President Obama’s heath reform committee and the payer community.

Dr. Bosserman has served as President of Wilshire Oncology since March of 2003. She has focused her leadership on the development, implementation tools and techniques to enable community oncologists and oncology practices to deliver, document and quantify quality oncology care while enhancing community patient participation in clinical trials in prevention, supportive care and cancer therapy. She believes that the reporting and study of comprehensive community care serving 85% of Americans can be a foundation for the value based care necessary for effective health care reform.

Dr. Bosserman has received numerous awards distinguishing her as a leader and advocate for community cancer care and as a clinical humanitarian. She has been recognized by her peers for inclusion in the Best Doctors database annually since 2006. She actively participates in on-going local and national clinical research trials, and is a founding member of the Community/UCLA Oncology/TORI Clinical Trials Network. She accepted the ASCO Clinical Trials Excellence award on behalf of Wilshire Oncology in 2009. Heralded as a clinician who brings compassionate care, research, and implementation methodology to the community, she is an articulate advocate for accessible, comprehensive, scientific and community-based cancer care.
