Grant Lawless, RPh, MD, FACP

Dr. Lawless is Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy and Program Director for the Master of Science degree in “Healthcare Decision Analysis” covering healtheconomics and outcomes, applied health policy and international reimbursement along with pricing and business intelligence.

Through December 2011, he served as Executive Director for National Accounts Managed Care, working with large national corporate payer customer, coalitions and employers. Other positions held at Amgen were Executive Director for Managed Care Marketing, developing original research and data based value messages and outreach programs, as well as Director of Healtheconomics and Outcomes Research focusing on prospective clinical and retrospective data analysis, Phase IV clinical trial design and execution, managed care and severely ill populations.

Prior to joining Amgen in 1999, he served 11 years as Vice President for Medical and Pharmacy Affairs and Chief Medical Officer for Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Highmark is a health management company whose products covered 3.5 million lives offering: traditional HMO, Medicare & Medicaid HMO, Point of Service, PPO, and Indemnity.

Dr. Lawless’s professional experience is in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine and is Board Certified and Fellow in Internal Medicine, Quality Assurance and Utilization Review, as well as Addiction Medicine. He is also a Registered Pharmacist with specialty certification in Nuclear Medicine. He is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at University of Pittsburgh and St. Francis Health System in Pittsburgh, PA.
